Sargassum seaweed is accumulating at a startling rate on the island’s beaches, in particular along the eastern coast. As of this weekend, the seaweed clumps have been spotted flowing into bays on the southern coastlines. Residents and businesses along the eastern coast have already been battling the weed for several weeks now. The hot weather has not helped the situation; the rotting weeds already coating the shoreline stinks and have chased away beachgoers and have forced residents to lock their doors and windows. Those affected call on Government to have a clear away plan from the weed as soon as possible to save them from the horrible stench as endured in 2015. (John Halley photo)
