PHILIPSBURG–St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has recently commissioned local marketing firm Altus Banding Agency to develop and implement brand expansion and other services for Carnival.

This will “elevate the festival to levels that create an unforgettable and immersive event experience,” said SCDF in a press release on Sunday.

After two years without Carnival due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, SCDF said it has used the downtime to finally develop its technological and digital services.

“For a festival the size of Carnival, we are a little behind with innovative solutions to compliment the festival and make the experience more efficient,” the foundation said. “It is important for us to keep our finger on the pulse, so we do not miss an opportunity to reap the benefits for Carnival and its stakeholders. We want a strong digital presence and, for us, there is no better team to lead this effort than Jennifer Carty and her team at Altus Branding Agency.”

“Altus Branding Agency is thrilled to collaborate with SCDF in developing an innovative, dynamic and efficient customer experience during St. Maarten’s Carnival. As the world is endlessly evolving, we need to continuously work on creating new experiences that make every interaction easy, seamless and that add value to every local and international visitor,” said Altus founder and creative director Jennifer Carty.

“Carnival is big – the biggest event on the island – so we needed a team that thinks big and who do not confine themselves to boxes. We believe the project is in great hands,” said SCDF.

SCDF and Altus are currently in the information gathering phase of the project. SCDF said the project will be ready in time for the launch of Carnival 2022. The launch is slated for later this year.

“All too often we see organisations jump right into making a purchasing decision about technology without having done the groundwork ahead of time. Our needs assessment will be thorough, and we will involve and update stakeholders along the way,” said SCDF.

As for Carnival 2022, SCDF promises one “unlike anything any Carnival lover has ever experienced. Two years of pent-up energy looking for good trouble.”
