SCDF extends condolences for Carnival ‘Flag Lady Fely’

PHILIPSBURG–St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) extended condolences on Monday to the family and friends of Felicia Priest, who passed away on Monday morning.

Priest was the famous Flag Lady of St. Maarten Carnival for years, leading many parades over the years waving and twirling a Carnival flag or St. Maarten flag. She has also assisted SCDF in many aspects, including being a judge for the Children’s and adult Parades.

“Fely, as we all affectionately called her was so loving and so eager to help whenever called upon. She was a mainstay at the front of our parades for so many years and a Carnival icon in her own right. This is a big loss for the Carnival family.

“The SCDF extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends and Carnival-lovers over the loss of Fely. As we start another Carnival season, this weighs heavy on us. We will miss her dearly,” SCDF said on Monday.
