Day with fabulous living museum

PHILIPSBURG–Sister Regina Primary School celebrated St. Maarten Day on November 9 with festivities that included a living museum. The Group 8 (grade 6) pupils have been studying everything about the 37-square-mile island since September 17.

As part of the project, they explored the island and have been learning about its history, culture and more. To close off their unit they held a Living Museum. Each pupil was assigned a person who was/is of interest for St. Maarten.

Visitors were able to meet Mighty Dow, Christopher Columbus, the Salt Pickers, Emilio Wilson, Saint Martin of Tours and many more icons at the Living Museum.

Minister of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sport Wycliffe Smith and poet Lasana Sekou visited the museum and were pleased to meet all these characters. They even bumped into themselves and proudly listened to their own life stories being presented by the pupils, who were well prepared.
