Sea rescue

The Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard KWCARIB received a distress report of a fishing vessel around 2:40pm Sunday. The vessel was located at that time 2.5 miles Southeast of Aruba. There were three persons on board. A yacht that was nearby, the “Energy,” could take two of the men from the water. The third was still missing. The Coast Guard cutter “Panther” patrolling the area at that time was also directed to the area and began a search. Based on information provided by Aruba Ports Authority (APA) and the crew of the “Energy,” the man was found and recovered a half-mile South of Baby Beach about 3:20pm. He clung to a jerry can to stay afloat. After this, the other two occupants of the “Energy” were taken aboard the “Panther and they headed to Savaneta where all three people were dropped off safely.
