ANGUILLA–The Royal Anguilla Police Force (RAPF) has reported a fatal road accident that occurred on Sunday, February 5, at about 5:20pm on the Jeremiah Gumbs Highway.
When police arrived at the scene they saw one motor car and two motor cycles with extensive damage. Jeron Fleming, 23 years old from South Hill, a driver of one of the motor cycles, was badly injured and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital by the ambulance service where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the emergency doctor. The other motor cyclist received injuries to his upper body.
On Monday authorities arrested one man to assist with their investigation into the accident. They are also appealing to any members of the public who may have been on the Jeremiah Gumbs Highway at the time of the accident to report any information they have to the Valley Police Station.
The Commissioner of Police Paul Morrison and members of the RAPF are extending sympathy to the grieved family and friends of the deceased. A Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to the family during this difficult time.
The first road fatality was as a result of an accident that occurred on Friday, January 27, but the 22-year-old driver Jeleen Deshatlo of Pond Ground, East End only succumbed to her injuries on Sunday February 5. The single car accident occurred on the Great House Main Road. The motor vehicle received extensive damage.
Authorities are asking for assistance with their investigation from any witnesses who were in the vicinity.
