Selective fish trap | THE DAILY HERALD

Coastal and Marine Management students Tom Brokke and Marc Veldman from Leeuwarden in the Netherlands are on Saba during the next two months to conduct their Bachelor’s-thesis project at Saba Conservation Foundation (SCF).

Their project will focus on selectively targeting lionfish with altered traditional fish traps. They will also seek an answer to the question whether selectively trapping lionfish would be an economically viable option for Saba’s fishermen during a potential closed season for redfish fisheries. Brokke and Veldman will also be helping out with the fisheries monitoring programme and other activities. (SCF Facebook photo)
