The annual meeting of the entitled asset holders of the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS) was held in St. Maarten on Wednesday. Present were Finance Ministers Kenneth Gijsbertha (Curaçao) and Michael Ferrier (St. Maarten), who are representatives of the asset-holders – the two Dutch Caribbean countries.
On the agenda were the preliminary financial figures of the two countries within the Dutch Kingdom as per January 31, their economic outlooks, Hurricane Irma’s impact on St, Maarten, CBCS’ role in rebuilding St. Maarten, apportionment formula and reserves, and CBCS’ new strategic plan. According to a CBCS statement, Gijsbertha informed Ferrier that St. Maarten can count on Curaçao’s help in rebuilding the hurricane-damaged country.
