Simpson Bay Resort on track to be fully operational by Sept. | THE DAILY HERALD

SIMPSON BAY–Simpson Bay Beach Resort and Marina is on track to having 100 per cent of its units operational by September, the resort announced on Thursday. The resort started welcoming visitors as of March and now has 90 per cent of its units in operation.

The Interval International-affiliated resort offers 336 fully equipped suites and 83 two-bedroom villas that can accommodate up to six people.

The resort sustained damage from Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017. However, recovery at the resort continues at a rapid pace 10 months later. Even after the hurricanes, sections of the resort were open to relief workers and others who came into the country to assist with clean-up and rebuilding.

Just nine months prior to Irma the resort received Interval International’s 2017 Premier Resort Award in recognition of the completion of its multi-million-dollar five-year renovation and revitalisation project.

Staying vigilant in this hurricane season, the resort has kicked off its annual cleaning campaign in preparation for the peak of the season. Some 200 staff members from all departments spruced up and removed loose debris from the entire resort grounds.
While the first post-Irma cleaning campaign presented more work than normal, the resort looks forward to the upcoming tourist season.
