Small craft advisory in effect for island | THE DAILY HERALD

AIRPORT–A small craft advisory was issued at noon by the Meteorological Department of St. Maarten. The seas are expected to remain rough through the end of the week. Small craft operators and sea bathers are advised to exercise caution.

Seas are peaking near eight feet, and expected to remain rough through the end of the week. The state of the sea is classified as “moderate to rough.”

The dominant Atlantic high pressure system will continue to generate brisk winds across the region. Patches of low-level clouds embedded in the wind flow may cause a few passing showers.

Tonight, Wednesday, through Thursday evening, winds will be east-south-easterly with a gentle to fresh breeze of 12 to 20 mph and higher gusts possible.

The outlook through Friday evening is partly cloudy and breezy becoming cloudy at times with a few passing showers.
