Smith to meet with SMVTS teachers at WITU’s request | THE DAILY HERALD

PHILIPSBURG–Education Minister Wycliffe Smith will be meeting with St. Maarten Vocational Training School (SMVTS) teachers based on a request made by Windward Islands Teachers Union (WITU).

WITU President Claire Elshot told reporters at a press conference on Thursday that teachers have many concerns and the union believed it best if these concerns are addressed directly with the minister.

She said the union had requested that Smith meet with the teachers by Tuesday, November 13. Smith responded by informing the union that he will schedule a meeting with the teachers early next week.

Elshot did not go into details on the teachers’ specific concerns.
