CAY HILL–The human resource capital at St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) received a boost with the addition of paediatrician Dr. Thibisay Morvan to the team of specialists at SMMC as of December 21, 2017.

Morvan brings 20 years of experience to SMMC and is said to be enthusiastic to use her knowledge and experience in her specialty of paediatric intensive care at the medical facility.

She was born and raised in Venezuela, where she studied and began her practice. She obtained a Master’s degree in Tropical Medicine at Liverpool University in England. She speaks Spanish and English fluently.

On completing her education Morvan worked for several years at Maternidad Santa Ana in Caracas and at other hospitals in Venezuela. She also worked in Saudi Arabia, Turks and Caicos Islands and Suriname, where she set up the country’s first sickle cell clinic. SMMC said in a press release that Morvan brings a wealth of experience in paediatric care to SMMC.

SMMC said it looked forward to having a good working relationship with Morvan in serving SMMC’s patient community with quality hospital care. SMMC said it will continue to maintain and expand its specialty services to meet the basic health care needs of St. Maarten and the neighbouring islands.
