SMMC Procurement Committee receives bids for first World Bank tender project on December 19.

 

CAY HILL–The St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) Procurement Committee recently released the first of a series of World Bank-funded projects which was up for public tender on December 19. Various contractors and envelopes were opened in their presence in the conference room at SMMC.

The tendered project Tender Project 2.1 consists of complete technical design, delivery and installation of a new, fully-addressable fire detection and alarm system for the existing SMMC building and Care Complex.

Thirteen companies registered to receive the tender documents on December 3 and four bids were received by the Procurement Committee in the presence of SMMC’s general director, facilities manager and legal counsel.

Facilities Manager Erika van der Horst said on Monday, “We would like to thank all companies that registered and those that sent in their bids, and we will be busy in the coming period to properly evaluate the received bids. We expect to award this project in January 2019.

“We are also currently busy with the preparation of the tender documents for the Tender Projects 2.2 generators and 2.5 medical gas distribution system which are expected to become available for pre-registered companies in the beginning of January 2019.”
