SIMPSON BAY–St. Maarten Marine Trades Association (SMMTA) discloses it will use the upcoming Monaco Boat Show at the end of September as a major charm offensive to attract the mega and superyachts back to St. Maarten for the 2018/19 season and beyond.

SMMTA has secured a prime location at a bar close to the entrance of the show, SMMTA President Robbie Ferron indicated. SMMTA is sponsoring a crew party and other activities. Among the arrangements, banners and a giant St. Maarten flag will be placed in prominent positions. The flag will also be featured on all entry badges of visitors.

“We’re working hard at telling the world that we are ready for next season, and consequently spending a lot of money to be at this show,” Ferron said. “It’s important to note that in our marine industry not one company closed down. Compare that to Front Street. And the mega yachts were the first to support us after the hurricanes. Now we need them to come earlier and more frequently to sustain our economy.”

SMMTA’s attendance at the boat show has been made possible by the generous contributions of local sponsors SMMTA, St. Maarten Tourist Bureau, Port St. Maarten, Princess Juliana International Airport, St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce, SOL Antilles NV and Big Time Taxi Service St. Maarten.
