AIRPORT–Workers and passengers at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA) evacuated the Terminal after hearing the fire alarm sound off Tuesday afternoon.
Fire Fighters rushed to the airport to assist while airport fire fighters started to search for any fire in the building. After careful investigation, fire fighters found out that an overheated microwave caused the smoke detector to sound the fire alarm.
The fire department gave the airport the all clear at 3:00pm to return inside the Terminal. Passengers experienced a slight day due to the inconvenience. PJIA Chief Executive Officer Brian Mingo thanked the staff for their speedy response to ensuring the safety of the passengers by exercising their safety evacuation protocol.
