PHILIPSBURG–Soca Rumble winners King Vers and Mighty Dow both attended and performed at Miami Broward One Carnival on October 9 in Florida, USA.
The Miami Broward One Carnival Host Committee is a non-profit organisation dedicated to bringing a safe family festival to South Florida. The organisation provides services to outlying areas, providing critical opportunities to the Caribbean people in South Florida to share the Caribbean culture, promote cultural exchange and build economic cooperation in the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment of South Florida.

Montage Event owner Grisha Heyliger was satisfied with the two representatives going abroad and doing what they do best.
Mighty Dow said, “My experience in Miami was a great one and reminded me of times I travelled in the past. I heard comments from the audience like ‘Boy, you full of energy.’ Had a talk with Onku and Onyan from Burning Flames about the change and trend in music today. The audience accepted us both – Vers and I as well. I will be back in Miami and Canada is also on my agenda.”
King Vers commented, “The Sunday event had well over 4,000 to 5,000 in attendance. Some locals from St. Maarten were there and they sang along with me. The experience was crazy, so many people. In Monday’s event Kenyo Baily also performed. St. Maarten was well represented in Miami. I also got a link-up to perform at the Houston Carnival event.”
Heyliger said both artistes were grateful to Petrol Sol and Montage NV for sponsoring their entire travel and lodging to Miami. Everybody had a great time at the Miami Broward One Carnival village and the St. Maarten artistes are looking forward to it next year, according to Heyliger.
Recruitment for Soca Rumble 2017 begins November 1. Artistes will have the entire month to sign up and two months to prepare their music.
