PHILIPSBURG–Social Reform Party (SRP) leader Jacinto Mock (47) died of natural causes at his home on Illidge Road on Monday morning. Family members found Mock’s lifeless body in his room close to 11:00am.
Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson confirmed the politician’s passing and said doctors had determined that the cause of death was natural. Mock started his political career with the National Alliance in 2010. He ran as the leader and only candidate of his own party in the 2014 parliamentary elections.
Mock joined the Helping Our People Excel (HOPE) Association party in 2016 and ran as the number three candidate.
The SRP stood to adhere to the laws of St. Maarten, while placing honest and competent SRP political candidates in Parliament and Ministries. The party was said to also promote the cause of democracy and good governance while observing all constitutional laws, human rights requirements and international treaties.
