Some voting bureaux changed due to Irma

POND ISLAND–Several regular polling stations will not be used for the February 26 snap parliamentary elections due to substantial damage from Hurricane Irma.

Caretaker Prime Minister Rafael Boasman said on Wednesday the decision to shift to alternate locations has already been made in consultation with the Central Voting Bureau.

The names of the alternate stations will be released in the near future.

Elections planning are “progressing smoothly,” he said.

The container with election material should already be at the port.

The Justice Ministry, also headed by Boasman, will issue guidelines for political campaign “this week.” Those guidelines will cover areas such as public meetings, erection of billboard and party supporters gathering close to polling stations.
