South Leo Club hosts fun day

Leo Club members with some of the children having fun during their recent event.

PHILIPSBURG–St. Maarten South Leo Club recently hosted eighteen children and seven mothers for a fun and relaxing day dedicated to them.

These children and their families lost their homes during the passing of Hurricanes Irma and Maria and have been taking shelter ever since. Club members met with Chantale Groeneveldt in November 2017 to discuss the current and near future situation of these children and the rest of their families.

After meeting some of the children and parents, the Leo Club decided to provide them with some good old-fashioned fun and entertainment. With the help of Marlon van Putten, transportation was provided to the Lions Civic Centre on Sucker Garden Road which served as the venue for the event. Thanks to Funtopia, the Club was able to provide face-painting throughout the entire evening.

After some music and dancing, and the face painting was in full swing, pizza was served with some help from Domino’s Pizza while the children enjoyed a movie. The children received goody bags towards the end of the fun-filled evening, compliments of Caroline Webster-Peterson.

The Club thanked Chantale Groeneveldt. The Leos said they group would not have been able to organise this event without her help.
