Speedbumps please | THE DAILY HERALD

A Welfare Road business-owner called on Infrastructure Minister Miklos Giterson to place speedbumps on the street as soon as possible.

Due to a recent crime spree and traffic accidents in the area, one business-owner who wished to remain anonymous said on Monday that government should consider placing speed bumps on the street to safeguard persons who cross the street and risk being run over by delinquent drivers. He said the accident in front of Topper’s Restaurant several months ago was a perfect example of how a speed bump would prevent or at least minimise a person’s injury.

A man walking on the side of the street was hit by a moving vehicle, leaving him severely injured. On Saturday a scooter driver lost control and hit a nine-year-old boy who was playing in a yard on the same street. The business-owner said he had spoken to several owners of businesses in the area and they are willing to pay for the speed bump if government is not able to.
