Eion Maison and Josianne Fleming-Artsen signing the MOU recently.
PHILIPSBURG–University of St. Martin School of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning (USM SCELL) and St. Maarten Service Training Academy (SSTA) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together in executing an accredited Customer First Online Training Programme. USM-SCELL Director Eion Maison and SSTA Managing Director Josianne Fleming-Artsen signed the MOU on behalf of their respective institutions. The programme will offer high-level training to raise the bar on service excellence in St. Maarten/St. Martin and the Caribbean. “This unique partnership brings local, regional as well as international synergy to a much-needed arena in St. Maarten/St. Martin and the Caribbean,” parties said on Wednesday.
The customer-first online programme is accredited by United Kingdom (UK) awarding body EduQual. A press release said Maison and Fleming-Artsen believe that online training can be the only realistic way of delivering instruction and spreading a consistent customer service message across an organisation via simulcast setup.
“It is capable of motivating and inspiring employees to turn around their level of service quality, thereby enhancing the customer experience and bringing real rewards and value as well as being the vehicle for brand advocacy,” it was stated in the release issued on Wednesday.
For the online programmes, participants will be able to access the learning once they have an Internet connection and a device to learn such as a laptop or desktop computer, iPad or Smartphone, etc., as long as the online portal can be fully accessed.
The online sites are now being used by hundreds of persons as this is the best way to transfer learning at a faster pace and in an affordable manner. Participants will have the advantage of studying at their own pace. A face-to-face section may be included, termed “blended learning,” which is the best fit for the Caribbean. The ability to bring together geographically scattered employees turns eLearning from just a cost-saver to a real enabler.
Companies, institutions and individuals interested in the programme can call USM-SCELL at tel. 1-721-543-3710 ext. 1023 or e-mail

A soft launch and orientation day will be held at USM-SCELL Room 200 from 12:00 to 2:00pm August 31.
