Statia Day week of activities kicks off with Gospel Night

ST. EUSTATIUS–The Statia Day Week of Celebration was opened Wednesday by Island Councilman Clyde van Putten who invited all to come out and show their support to the promoters in their efforts to give Statians “a great show.”

The leader of Progressive Labour Party (PLP) wished everyone a “safe and enjoyable” Statia Week and Statia Day, on Monday.

The festivities kicked off with Gospel Night, organised by Marcella Gibbs, who put the youth in the forefront this year. Daughters of the King Foundation’s youngest group took centre stage and received a loud applause for their voices which blended as one.

Little six-year-old Mia Courtar held her audience spellbound as she belted her tune “He knows my Name” without missing a note or a word.

Various singers wanted to show their talents and took to the stage during the show, which was monitored by Master of Ceremonies Eardley Woodley.
