J’ouvert Morning 2017 revellers being wet down.
ST. EUSTATIUS–The Easter holiday weekend will have a wide range of activities, which will be featured over the long holiday weekend. Today, Saturday, church services will take place at 10:00pm, and on Easter Sunday a resurrection Mass will be held at 9:00am.
On Sunday, April 1, a beach party will take place on the beachfront from 6:00pm. During the party, the crowd will be entertained by DJ Pleasures and the Rebels Band HD.
Later that same night, a Big People Party will take place at 318 Right Fields, starting at 9:00pm. The show will feature Farmer Nappy, Face, Jamm Boyz Band and DJ Sense.
On Monday, at 4:00am, a J’ouvert morning wet down will take place, starting at the monument across from the Roman Catholic Church and ending at the NuStar playground. Ras Kelly and Rhythm band from St. Kitts will entertain the revellers.
Later that same day, an Easter Monday Madness event will take place on the Bayfront starting at 10:00am. Nu Vibes band, Turbulanzz Band and DJ Max will entertain the crowd on the Bayfront from 10:00am.
Starting at 3:00pm, a musical showdown will be held between Ras Kelly and Rhythm band and the Rebels band. DJ Sense will also be on hand to entertain the Easter Monday beach-going crowd.
The St. Eustatius Government made it known to the public that in regard to the events on Easter Monday, April 2, all shop owners can open their stores that day from 8:00am until noon. Restaurants not linked to hotels may be opened from 11:00am to midnight.
Persons desirous of selling food or other items will need to have a permit in order to do so, and persons selling food need to be in possession of a valid health card.
There will also be an area designated for rescue service on the beachfront, which is opposite Scubaqua. This area may not be used for other than rescue services.
The slave path remains closed to the public and Oranjebaaiweg will be closed off. As the number of cars will be limited on the Bay, two school buses will be provided for transportation every half hour, commencing at 11:00am.
One school bus will be located at the Harbour Office, the second at Statia Terminal playground. These two busses will leave from one point to the other to transport persons to and from the Bay area, free of charge.
St. Eustatius National Parks Stenapa announced that the Tompi Hill Head Trail, which is maintained by a Stenapa team, can be used as a shortcut to get to the bay this weekend.
