ST. EUSTATIUS–Statia Port Services has won the “Amazing Race,” part of the Shark Week, which is currently being held in St. Eustatius.

The small winning team consisted of Linda “Jackie” Berkel and Tina Smith. The competition initially started with six teams, but two of these dropped out.

On Sunday, the teams scoured the island to find clues and completed their assignments by the cut-off time of 4:00pm. Following the winners, who made up the yellow team, the Dutch Government Team sporting orange came in second. Third place went to the defending champions of Caribbean Netherlands Science Institute CNSI and the team of Daniella Richardson ended in fourth place.

The prizes for the winning Statia Port Services team consisted of an Island Essence Experience, which included pickup, cocktails, a photoshoot, dinner and more.

Other prizes included portable speakers, portable hammocks-in-bags, drink bottles and safety lights for biking/running. No participant left the winners’ podium empty-handed.

All teams said they had a lot of fun during the day. They said that the go-ahead location clues were not too difficult, but the activities at the pit stops were considered somewhat challenging. The day ended with a barbeque with music and drinks at the Boardwalk.

Shark Week continues with Shark Day All Day today, Wednesday, 9:00am-4:00pm, as well as a Radio Quiz between 10:00am and 12:00pm.
