  1. EUSTATIUS–Many of St. Eustatius’ talented youth came out to display their talents on Tuesday evening at Youth Night 2019, hosted by the energetic and vivacious Zjandrea and Jahvon.

The show, which was organised by Sjahairah Fleming, was held at Mike van Putten Youth Centre/Carnival City under the theme “Spread The Love.” It featured headliners Raw Life and Enigma, Kay, Ishn Courtar, the Titus band and Mia Jenna Courtar, and several newcomers to the stage such as Savannah, JC, Keranje and Diker Future Sensations.

The night was a mixture of talents, from rapping to singing, dancing, modelling, drum solos and even some basketball skills were on display.

The audience was enthralled by Statia’s talented youth. The highlight of the evening was young Jordanny Redan, whose mastery of the drums was a sight to behold.

The 55th celebration of Statia Carnival 2019 is heading into the homestretch. The big carnival weekend starts tonight, Friday, with the Big Friday Night – Double Trouble, featuring headliners Asa Banton and “Queen of Bacchanal” Destra Garcia, and local acts such as the D’Vybzz band, DJ Sense and the Titus band.

Big Friday Night will play into the kick-off of J’Ouvert Morning at 4:00am Saturday, July 27. Later that same day, the First-Day Parade of Carnival is set to take place, starting at Gwendoline van Putten School at 2:30pm. A multitude of troupes are scheduled to take part in the troupe competition.

Sunday will see the Second-Day Parade start at the Bus Stop at 2:30pm, which will culminate in the announcement of the winner of the troupe competition.

The 55th celebration of Statia Carnival will come to a close Monday, July 29, with the Last Lap Jump-Up and performances on stage at Carnival City, culminating in the burning of “King Stupid” at midnight.
