SOUTH REWARD–A student was stabbed by a fellow student during a fight at St. Maarten Vocational Training School (SMVTS). Both students attend the school and the boys had a heated argument close to 10:00am Wednesday.
Police spokesman Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson reported that police patrols, paramedics and detectives had been directed to the school where a fight among students had taken place and one of the students was seriously wounded.
“On the scene the investigating officers learnt that a fight had broken out after a heated argument between two students from that school with initials N.O.M (18) and J.D.A. (17). During the fight the suspect N.O.M. used a broken bottle and stabbed the victim J.D.A. in his stomach, causing a very serious wound.
“After committing this act the suspect fled the scene. The victim was treated on the scene by paramedics and taken to St. Maarten Medical Center for medical attention. At the hospital the victim was immediately taken to the operation room where he had to be operated on. The victim was admitted to hospital for observation. The suspect was arrested and put into custody for further investigation,” said Henson.
