Students injured in car accident | THE DAILY HERALD

 

PHILIPSBURG–The St. Maarten Police Force KPSM was dispatched to L.B. Scott Road around 7:00am Wednesday for a traffic accident in which a thirteen-year-old and a sixteen-year-old had been struck by a car.

  According to information gathered at the scene, both minors were students on their way to school. They were hit by a black Elantra with licence plate M-5454 while crossing L.B. Scott Road in the vicinity of the Texaco gas station. The driver A.J.F. was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

  The 13-year-old suffered minor injuries and was treated on the scene. The 16-year-old suffered lacerations because the vehicle drove over his feet. The Ambulance Department later took him to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further treatment.

F. was arrested for driving while intoxicated and was taken to the Philipsburg police station. The Police Traffic Department is busy investigating this accident, according to a press release.
