MADAME ESTATE--The driver and passenger of a grey sport utility vehicle (SUV) had be rushed to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) around 11:20pm Sunday because their vehicle violently rolled down the hill after hitting a bus stop on A.Th. Illidge Road at high speed.

  According to police, the SUV driver was speeding on A.Th. Illidge Road heading toward Madame Estate from the Middle Region area. He lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a bus stop.

  The vehicle rolled after hitting the bus stop, turning over several times while barrelling down the hill. It finally came to a stop near the entrance of Cost Pro Supermarket’s parking lot.

  The SUV’s driver and passenger were both seriously injured in the accident. Ambulance Department personnel treated them at the scene and rushed them to SMMC for further medical care.
