TEATT Inspectorate announces public transportation inspections

PHILIPSBURG–The Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications (TEATT) Inspectorate announced on Sunday that the annual inspection of public transportation motor vehicles bearing Bus, Taxi, G and T number plates will begin today, Monday.

This inspection will be performed at the Little League Ball Park parking lot on Soualiga Road. Dutch St. Maarten Taxi Association and Airport Taxi Association have a separate inspection procedure and members should contact their association president for more information.
All permit holders are requested to present certain documents on the appointed date and time.
Bus and Taxi operators should bring a legible copy of the permit (vergunning); a valid copy of the assistant driver or help driver permit; a valid copy of the motor vehicle insurance with an expiration date no less than three weeks from the date of inspection; a valid copy of their driver’s licence; and a valid copy of their motor vehicle inspection card with an expiration date no less than three weeks from the day of inspection.
G and T operators should present a legible copy of the permit (vergunning); a valid copy of their motor vehicle insurance, with an expiration date no less than three weeks from the date of inspection; a valid copy of their motor vehicle inspection card with an expiration date no less than three weeks from the day of inspection; and a list of the drivers approved by the permit holder to operate the motor vehicles with valid copies of their drivers’ licences on company letterhead.
The permit holders are strongly encouraged to request an appointment for the inspection by phone by calling 542-4509, 542-4511 or 542-4519. Persons can also visit the office at Tamarindesteeg #16, Monday through Friday between 8:30am and12:00pm to make an appointment.
The Certificate of Inspection will be issued within two working days after successfully passing the inspection.
