Teen Times donates to dancer Marine Caillet

PHILIPSBURG–The young crew of the youth publication Teen Times recently made two monetary donations to young dancer Marine Caillet to assist her as she chases her dream of becoming a professional dancer. Caillet is a Teen Times Talent Showdown champion and other competitions, and has been a consistent part of Teen Times events over the past few years.

She recently started an online “Go Fund Me” drive to raise funds to travel to New York City to follow her dream. Teen Times Coordinator Rochelayne “Roosje” Rommy-Richardson said supporting Caillet was an easy decision for the group.

“The idea actually came from our founder Mike Granger who, as we all know, has always done and continues to do what he can to support talented youth in St. Maarten. We have seen Marine’s talent up close and personal and if she gets the support, we are sure she will move on to do great things and catch the dream she has been chasing of being a professional dancer. We are very proud of her and happy that we were able to support her,” Rommy-Richardson said.

The two monetary donations from Teen Times were for Caillet’s airline ticket and her overall expenses in New York. The first donation was made a few weeks ago and the second over this past weekend. The funds came from the proceeds of Talent Showdown 2016.

With the donation, Teen Times continues what it calls “our proud tradition” of giving back to young people from its two annual signature events Prom Night and Talent Showdown. The group primarily assists performing arts students and has been the leading advocate group for the construction of a performing arts centre in St. Maarten.
