Teen Times Talent Showdown prepares for 14th annual event

022

PHILIPSBURG–Teen Times has opened its registration period for talented youth to compete in its 14th annual Talent Showdown scheduled to be held on December 3. Talent Showdown, St. Maarten’s longest-running performing arts event, will feature some of the island’s most talented youth competing in song, dance (group and individual) and motivational rap.

Interested talented young people can register via Teen Times’ Facebook page: www.facebook.com/teentimesxm by submitting their contact information and type of talent they will be performing. Once the registration period closes on October 21, participants will be called together and briefed about the event. They will then have about a month to prepare for the big night.

Teen Times has also moved away from its interscholastic format this year due to lack of cooperation from the secondary schools. According to organisers, the intention is to re-evaluate the interscholastic approach to determine where and howTeen Times can assist the schools in preparing for the event.

“But that will take some time. So, in the meantime, we will move ahead and still have a terrific time in showcasing some of our talented youth and feature others in guest roles,” Teen Times Coordinator Rochelayne Rommy stated. “We take great pride in this event, because we know the level of talent St. Maarten has. It is always a proud moment for us when we are able to put this talent on display with the hope that these young performing artistes get the support they need to carry on. Many of them have legitimate dreams about their art form; they only need the support.”

Teen Times will release more information about the event venue, guest acts and more in the coming weeks. Talent Showdown is open to performing arts students from St. Maarten/St. Martin, Anguilla, Saba and St. Eustatius.
