PHILIPSBURG–The driver of a Kia Picanto was stopped on A.J.C. Brouwer Road in the vicinity of Osborne Kruythoff roundabout in Cole Bay around 9:30pm Sunday during a routine police patrol. While proceeding with the control, the officers became aware that the female driver was only 15 years old and had no documentation for the vehicle.
The suspect could not give a clear explanation to police about the vehicle she was driving.
She was later arrested and taken to the Philipsburg police station for questioning. The vehicle was also confiscated pending further investigation.
After being questioned, the girl was handed over to her parents.
This investigation is ongoing, said police on Monday.
