COLE BAY–The third annual St. Maarten Rendezvous presented by ACREW and hosted by Yacht Club Port de Plaisance is currently underway and continues today, Friday, March 8.
The two-day super-yacht-crew event is filled with interactive educational sessions covering relevant industry topics such as technology and innovations, medical care, and learning new teamwork and leadership skills. Building upon the success of the inaugural event in 2018, this year’s event is bigger and better with a programme keenly focused on the provision of high-quality learning experiences and supporting St. Maarten.
Today’s workshops include Ropes and Splicing: Understanding the Basics; Sunrise Aromatherapy Yoga Practice; The Practical Care of Art On Board; and Insight into Superyacht Crew Recruitment.
Thursday’s topics included Managing your Connectivity to Optimise User Experience and Control Cost; Financial Well-Being; Make-Up hacks with Beauty Industry Experts; the Secret to Saving Your Mooring Lines; Hazardous Spills and Filter Systems; Managing Risks and Legalities of Bringing Artefacts into International Water; Roundtable on Refits in the Caribbean; and Refreshing Lifesaving Skills.
Friday afternoon will see a ceremony to mark the more than US $4,000 raised by ACREW and its partners which is destined for the charity Home Away from Home Foundation.
The final two events for ACREW in 2017 at Astilleros de Mallorca and Compositeworks Shipyard were dedicated to raising funds to help the communities in the stricken regions following the 2017 hurricanes. ACREW’s business partners were invited to give a contribution at each event. ACREW donated five euros for every crew member who attended. The cheque was presented to Yacht Club Port de Plaisance during St. Maarten Rendezvous in 2018 so it could select a suitable charity.
The event closes with a Crew Challenge, the NAPA QR Scavenger Hunt, followed by the Carnival Crew Party.
