WILLEMSTAD–A Venezuelan man who was hit by an officer’s bullet during the fatal police chase in Curaçao early Friday morning passed away the next day in the hospital. Two other suspects, a man and a woman, had died on the spot when the car in which they were trying to flee crashed into a wall fence. Of the eight persons involved, six were said to be from the neighbouring South American nation and two from the Dominican Republic.
The surviving five occupants of the vehicle being pursued, three men and two women, were all injured during the accident and remained hospitalised. Two live on the island.
None of the victims’ identities had yet been released up to Saturday afternoon. Their families were to be informed first via the authorities in their native countries.
Twenty firearms were found inside the car, along with 19 packages of marijuana, of which five were marked with the Venezuelan flag.
Guns found in the vehicle.
