Thousands attend second night of Regatta parties

PHILIPSBURG–Boardwalk Boulevard came alive on Friday evening with the annual Heineken Regatta concert and fun market for Regatta participants and residents.

Heineken partnered with Port St. Maarten this year and organised the event under the theme “St. Maarten by Sea.” The sounds of the island’s best musicians, including Xplosion Band, and of Exodus band from Anguilla were featured along with local artisans, groups and organisations that showcased and sold their work during the Boardwalk Boulevard Market, a concept that was introduced in 2016.

St. Maarten’s very own Xplosion band gave an electrifying performance.

Today, Saturday takes the event to “St. Maarten by Air” which is in collaboration with Princess Juliana International Airport SXM. In addition to some great musical talents, the night will be filled with aerial highlights and stunts, and many more surprises.

Caribbean dancehall and reggae sensation Collie Buddz and Antiguan singer Asher Otto and Itchyfeet will highlight the evening, which will prove to be full of surprises. Admission for the night’s entertainment is free to the public.

Corporate and VIP passes for the night’s concerts are available and include VIP area access, drinks, snacks and air-conditioned private restrooms and seating.

Tomorrow, Sunday, will be the final evening and the party is named “Legendary Party.”

The event’s organisers have already announced they have secured legendary reggae band UB40 featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey for the final show. Also making a special appearance Sunday night will be Grammy-award-winning R&B artist Mya. The venue will offer food and drinks for sale as well as St. Maarten Heineken Regatta merchandise.

Tickets for Sunday’s Legendary Party can be purchased at all United Telecommunications Services (UTS) offices, both Van Dorp locations, Tech Hub at Le Grand Marché Bush Road, Topper’s Restaurant on Welfare Road, the St. Maarten Yacht Club, The Captain duty-free stores in Philipsburg and International Liquors in Pointe Blanche. Admission tickets for the Sunday event are US $20. VIP tickets are $175 each and are available for Saturday and Sunday.

The sole purpose of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is to create an international sailing and music event that highlights St. Maarten/St. Martin and attracts visitors to the many hotels, restaurants and cultural highlights this dual-nation island has to offer.
