Three-car traffic accident leaves two severely injured | THE DAILY HERALD

The three-car accident on Sunday.

 

 COLE BAY–The Police Traffic Department responded to a traffic accident involving three vehicles during which two persons suffered severe injuries on Welfare Road in the vicinity of Topper’s on Sunday at 10:30pm.

According to police on Monday, the driver of white van was driving on Welfare Road coming from the direction of Billy Folly Road. At the same time two other vehicles were also driving on Welfare Road coming from opposite direction.

For still unknown reasons the driver of the van lost control of his vehicle due to the excessive speed he was driving and collided with both oncoming vehicles. As a result of the collision the driver and the passenger of one of the oncoming vehicles suffered severe injuries, which included a head concussion, fractures to the neck, chest and arm. No external injuries were visible with the persons in driving the other vehicle, according to the police.

The victims were all treated on the scene by paramedics. Only the victims from one of the vehicles were transported to St. Maarten Medical Center for further treatment, where they remain admitted in critical condition.
