ST. EUSTATIUS–Three road accidents occurred over the Easter holidays in St. Eustatius.
On Thursday, March 29, at 6:30pm, a one-sided vehicle accident took place on James Hooker Road when a car drove against a lamp post.
The driver stated this happened because he drove too close to the roadside. He sustained no physical injuries, but felt dizzy because he probably had hit his head against the vehicle’s windshield. He was checked by the ambulance personnel on the spot.
Later that evening, another one-sided road accident took place on Oranjebaaiweg at around 11:45. The driver drove his car at high speed causing him to lose control of the steering wheel, after which his vehicle tipped against a wall. The driver was taken to Queen Beatrix Medical Center for check-up.
On Saturday, March 31, a collision between a scooter and a car took place on H.M. Beatrix Road. The scooter driver did not see the car coming and drove against the side of the vehicle.
The scooter driver had a wound to his head and several abrasions, while the passenger on the scooter also sustained a wound to his head. The scooter driver received a fine for driving without a valid driver’s license and insurance.
Over the past months, three cars have flipped over, resulting in injuries to occupants.
