AIRPORT–Three men believed to be Syrian nationals attempting to enter the country using false documents were arrested at Princess Juliana International Airport SXM on Saturday.

Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Ricardo Henson said on Sunday that the men had arrived at the airport around 7:30pm on an Insel Air flight originating from Haiti. They were held by Airport Immigration after it was discovered that the travel documents they presented were false.

The suspects were turned over to the airport’s Back Office, which thoroughly examined the documents and determined that the Greek passports the men used for travelling were indeed false.

The suspects are in custody pending further investigation.

In the meantime, the police are urging the community to be vigilant and proceed with caution given the current situation unfolding in France. Authorities manning critical infrastructures are advised to heighten security measures and remain alert for any suspicious activities or persons. They also are advised to contact the police immediately should they encounter any suspicious activities in these areas.
