ANGUILLA–The Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association (AHTA) has announced the scholarship awardees for this year. They are Cenita Liddie and Kendra Gajadhar.
Each year, the AHTA works very closely with the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association Educational Foundation (CHTAEF) in an effort to raise funds for the New York Times Show, which returns to the local associations in the form of scholarships for qualified staff of AHTA members who wish to further their education within the tourism sector.
The two employees were awarded the scholarships totalling over US $10,000 to further their studies. Cenita is in the BSc Management Studies (Human Resource Management) programme and is employed at Zemi Beach Hotel & Spa/Residences as the Human Resource Assistant. Kendra is enrolled in the BSc Management Studies (Tourism and Hospitality Management) programme and is employed at CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa as the Director of Purchasing and Warehouse Operations.
In addition, the AHTA announced that Kim Blaze, who was awarded a scholarship in 2016 valued at US $5,000, graduated in mid-2017 with a degree in Tourism Management from Anguilla Community College.
AHTA reports that it is looking forward to offering the same opportunities in 2018, and to receiving applications from Human Resource departments of AHTA-members on behalf of their staff.
