Two morning earthquakes rattle Caribbean islands

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad–The University of the West Indies (UWI) Seismic Research Centre has reported two earthquakes Tuesday morning, one off Trinidad, another off Martinique.

  The first – a 4.3-magnitude quake – occurred at 3:58, some 98 kilometres (km) northeast of Martinique’s capital Fort-de-France; 112km east of Roseau, Dominica; and 141km northeast of Castries, St. Lucia.

  Then at 9:13, a 4.0-magnitude tremor struck 71km northwest of Port of Spain, 95km west-northwest of Arima, and 102km northwest of San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago.
