PHILIPSBURG–The Police Traffic Department was alerted to a serious traffic accident that took place on L.B. Scott Road at 1:20am Thursday. The driver of a vehicle with license plate M-7486 travelling from St. Peters toward the Church Hill roundabout lost control and collided with another vehicle with license plate R-1766 travelling in the opposite direction.
According to police, M-7486 was propelled forward as a result of the collision, destroying a wire fence and hitting a container. Three occupants of the vehicle were trapped inside and the Fire Department was called in to assist with their extraction, using the “Jaws of Life” to free them.
The victims were treated on the scene by paramedics and then taken to St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) for further treatment. After being treated by the Emergency Unit doctors, the victims were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for observation.
