PHILIPSBURG–With just a few more months until the fiftieth annual Carnival celebration from April 20 to May 17, 2019, has veteran calypso singers Andrew “His Majesty Baker Jr.” Richardson and Alberto “Fish Da Mega Boss” Arrindell are furious with St. Maarten Carnival Foundation (SCDF) for scheduling next year’s Senior Calypso Finals on Easter Monday, April 22.

In a joint statement on Sunday, the singers said the show was planned with no regard for the calypsonians. Arrindell did have a dialogue with SCDF President Alston Lourens about their grievances, but the show was scheduled on that day anyway.

‘’We decided not to take part in the 50th calypso show unless they show us respect and put back J’ouvert morning with the Calypso show going into the weekend before. They are sabotaging Carnival with the calypsonians and the booth-holders and my song says a lot,” stated the entertainer.

Lourens was contacted on Sunday about the threat and said the board has no public statement to give at this time concerning the two calypsonians’ demand
