MARIGOT–Following the demonstration and march on Thursday morning by the unions and Soualiga United Collective, a meeting was held in the Préfecture at 4:15pm at the unions’ request.
This was a follow-up to negotiations set up by the Collectivité, the mediation meeting held in the Préfecture in February and the mediation set up by the Administrative Court of St. Martin.
The meeting was held in the presence of President of the Collectivité Daniel Gibbs and representatives of State services (DEAL, DJSCS, DIECCTE, ARS, and National Education).
Préfète Sylvie Feucher wanted to bring everyone together to address each of the issues, the Préfecture’s communique stated.
The UGTG union representatives present wished to address as a priority and exclusively of any other question the subject relating to the 16 contracts not renewed within Caisse Territorial des Oeuvres Scolaires (CTOS). Each of the parties presented its legal arguments that only one administrative court could arbitrate.
To ensure a way out of the crisis, the services present, in particular the Collectivité and DIECCTE, proposed the implementation of qualifying training courses in partnership with the Employment Office with a level of compensation equal to their previous remuneration during the period of training.
The training courses offer employment and correspond to construction trades, the hotel and catering industry, animation, sports, socio-educational, and so forth, with strong and personalised support provided for each person.
However, UGTG representatives refused this proposal. The delegation left the room without addressing the other points on the list of grievances.
