University willing to collaborate with MHF | THE DAILY HERALD

CAY HILL–American University of the Caribbean (AUC) School of Medicine representatives say they are willing to collaborate with Mental Health Foundation (MHF) on future projects.

The two AUC representatives made the comments during a visit and tour of MHF on Wednesday, December 5.

During the tour around the facility, the AUC representatives had an opportunity to meet with staffers and learn about the variety of services provided to the community of St. Maarten as well as to neighbouring islands.

Psychologists Dr. Kim Kirkland and Keith Evashevski said they appreciated the work done by MHF and were willing to collaborate on future projects.

AUC students who do internships or volunteer at MHF can obtain “valuable experience” within the field of their expertise, while simultaneously contributing to the St. Maarten society, MHF said in a press release on Thursday. MHF, currently operating understaffed and under-resourced, said it is happy with this initiative, as there is much to be gained by collaboration for both organisations.
