The driver of this vehicle is lucky to be alive after he lost control descending the hill from Marigot towards Friar’s Bay around 3:45pm.
According to Capitaine Olivier Esseul of the Gendarmerie, the man suffered either a heart attack or stroke, causing the loss of control. He may have had his foot on the accelerator, which could account for the high speed. The car crashed through the barrier near the Friar’s Bay entrance and cleared the narrow ravine completely before landing upside down. The man was taken to hospital, but his condition was not thought to be life-threatening. No other cars were involved.
