ST PETERS--Police are on the lookout for a suspect with the initials J.B. who is believed to be responsible for shooting Immigration Officer Jason Juliet in his leg on Wednesday evening at 7:00pm.

  This newspaper understands that there was an argument between Juliet and the man who ended up shooting the officer. The shooting took place on the L.B. Scott Road in the vicinity of Benny Scots’ property.

  Police Spokesman Ricardo Henson confirmed that the incident took place and said: “the victim, who was shot in one of his legs, was found on the scene and treated on the scene by paramedics and then taken, by ambulance, to the Sint Maarten Medical Center for further treatment. After committing this act the suspect fled the scene. At this moment it is still unclear what the reason for the shooting was.”

  The area has been closed off for the Forensic Department to collect evidence and the detectives to talk to witnesses and conduct an in-depth investigation.

  Juliet is the son of the retired police spokesman Inspector Geronimo Juliet. According to police the suspect in the shooting is well known to the police and lives in the St. Peters District. The investigation continues as another officer of the law was assaulted.
