DUTCH QUARTER–The quietness of the night was shattered around 12:55am Saturday as shots rang out in Dutch Quarter. A man C.W. had been gunned down by an unknown assailant.
Several police patrols, the Police Forensic Department, and the Ambulance Department were sent to the location to investigate the killing. On the scene police encountered a grey Hyundai i10 and a white Hyundai Accent. Next to one of the cars police found W. bleeding from gunshot wounds and not showing any signs of life.
When The Daily Herald arrived on the scene the man’s body was still lying on the street in front of a vehicle believed to be his and police and detectives were busy collecting evidence and speaking to potential witnesses.
A crowd of onlookers gathered around the scene commenting on the incident and many persons in the crowd claimed to have known the victim.
- was apparently shot at close range and was declared dead at the scene. The motivation for the killing is still unclear, said police on Monday night.
The two cars and the victim’s body were confiscated for further investigation. The Detective Department is investigating this case, said police.
