UPDATE: St. Martiner shot to death opposite Collège Soualiga | THE DAILY HERALD

MARIGOT–An individual working for a company located opposite Collège Soualiga in French Cul-de-Sac was fatally shot around 8:30am Wednesday, the Gendarmerie confirmed.

It was stated the victim, a St. Martiner, had been shot three times with a firearm, but that was later revised by the Prosecutor who said the victim had received two bullets and died at the scene after one hour despite attempts by emergency services to revive him.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known and the shooter was on the run in a getaway car.

An investigation has been opened with the Prosecutor, detectives (Section de Recherches), Cellule Identification Criminelle, and other departments present at the scene of the crime yesterday morning.

It was a busy day for Gendarmes, with vehicle accidents at midday in the area of Agrèment where the roadworks are taking place on Rue de Hollande. Two persons were seriously injured and two others lightly injured when a driver lost control of his vehicle and went into the back of the cars in front.

Meanwhile, two Chinese supermarkets in French Quarter were robbed at gunpoint at 12:30pm. According to the Prosecutor, a hunting rifle and a pick-up truck were used by the robbers. No further details were available by press time.

With regard to the homicide, any persons who have information that could be of help to the investigation are invited to call the Gendarmerie on the emergency number 17.
