MARIGOT–Three new cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 were announced by the Préfecture and regional health agency ARS on Wednesday.
One patient is hospitalised and the other two are confined to their homes. No further details were given on the three new cases.
The total number of active cases in French St. Martin is now nine. Five are hospitalised (one pregnant woman is in the Guadeloupe hospital) and four are at home. Two former patients in St. Martin recovered and were permitted to leave the island.
There are still two confirmed cases in St. Barths. The first patient there recovered. The cumulative total of cases for St. Martin and St. Barths since the virus entered the two territories is 14.
ARS insists that persons returning to St. Martin and St. Barths must absolutely respect the 14-day isolation period. Furthermore, the confinement measures for St. Martin must be strictly respected. Do not leave home unless absolutely necessary, and only in possession of one of the two waiver documents downloadable from the Préfecture’s website or Facebook page.
Continue to follow the hygiene rules: wash hands regularly; cough or sneeze into elbow; use tissues and discard after one use; greet without shaking hands, hugging or kissing; practise social distancing two metres apart from the next person; wear a mask only if sick.
