US $9.2 million received for emergency recovery projects | THE DAILY HERALD

PHILIPSBURG–The World Bank Trust Fund dispersed US $9.2 million on Tuesday for emergency recovery projects in St. Maarten.

  Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin said on Wednesday that the funds will be used to start repairs to the police station, the fire station, public shelters, for equipment for the Fire Department, for satellite phones, replacement vehicles, training for emergency personnel, to purchase weather equipment, for a roof repair programme, for public building repairs and for social housing repairs.

  According to the Prime Minister, a process is still involved, and procurement is being carried out to execute these projects. She said what is important is that a portion of the funds in the amount of US $9.2 million was transferred to the designated account as of Tuesday.
